Workplace Training Information
Davtech is now offering Intoximeters Breath Alcohol Training Courses (BAT) in Canada! Classes will be held in our Head Office in Ottawa, ON or in our new facility located in Airdrie, AB. (Onsite training is also available, please call for a quote.)
If you are testing under Federal Department of Transportation guidelines, training is mandatory and test protocols are fixed. When comparing prices on instruments and training, be certain that you are comparing "apples to apples". Intoximeters offers a wide variety of products and the most rudimentary product that we offer may be equivalent to the top of the line product offered by other vendors.
Additionally, with regard to the training products that you purchase, we recommend that you become familiar with applicable regulatory requirements before purchasing training.
Intoximeters' workplace training classes are designed to meet the requirements of the U.S. Department of Transportation alcohol testing program as well as non-regulated company policy programs. Courses also cover testing under other regulatory agencies such as the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, the U.S. Department of Energy, and U.S. Coast Guard.
The U.S. DOT Model Course (49 CFR Part 40) as published by the Office of Drug & Alcohol Policy and Compliance requires breath alcohol technicians (operators or BATs) to be trained according to a specific curriculum. This curriculum is quite thorough and is appropriate for all workplace, maritime and industrial testing scenarios, whether regulated by DOT, NRC, DOE or USCG.
The DOT procedures provide an excellent example of an evidential alcohol testing program. Many non-regulated companies have adopted look-alike programs that meet individual regulations. In some cases, companies will have an attorney or a consultant assist them in the development of their own custom testing program.
In all cases,we can assist by utilizing our expertise to train your personnel. For more information contact our training department at extension 216 or email customerservice[at]davtech.ca
